Well, it’s weekend! This has been a busy week and have been off taking photos at a wedding all morning so am glad to finally have a chance to put my feet up and have a chat with the fab Amo Jones about her new release, Hellraiser.
So let’s start with you telling us a bit about yourself.
I’m from New Zealand but currently living in Australia. I have four kids, a puppy and a partner who should really be classed as another kid, judging by his inability to place his washing in the hamper instead of just dropping it beside it.
Hmm,it seems to be a common problem! Was there a specific moment where you first knew that you wanted to be a writer?
Not really. I was in the car while waiting for my kids to finish school and Perilous Love’s (my debut book) story just came to me.
Do you have a particular writing routine, or any special rituals?
I find this changes with what book I’m currently working on. At the moment I’m writing book three in The Devil’s Own series, it’s very dark and evil… so I find that I write best at night when the house is dead and all I have is the whispering cries from my thoughts.
Ooh, spooky. Tell us about the genre you write in, and what drew you to it.
I think as a base genre I write contemporary. But I also dip my writing brush into the dark category and new adult. All centered around MC and/or Rock stars. But I am working on a standalone also that is very different.
Are there any particular authors or books that have really inspired you?
There are so many authors who I look up to, but I love Hunter S. Thompson and Stephen King.
I do love Hunter S Thompson! What five things could you never do without?
Wine, sour gummy bears, Spotify, school hours, and bed times.
Tell us a bit about your new release.
Hellraiser! It centers around a very filthy alpha who knows no bounds, and a very sassy female who knows how to give lip. It was my favorite book to write, I just loved the two of them.
Hehe, definitely sounds intriguing 😉 Where did your inspiration for it come from?
They spoke to me throughout the entire first book in the series, it was a struggle for me to keep them quiet and get them in line. So when it was their time, I couldn’t stop.
What did you find most enjoyable about writing it?
The banter and the love/hate pull they have. I laughed, cried, and threw tantrums as I wrote their story. It sure was an experience.
What was the hardest part about writing it?
Ending them! I didn’t want to push those two words “The End”—for once—, I cried when I did because I became so attached to them.
Aww, it’s always a bittersweet feeling. Who’s your favourite character in it? (I know, I know, favouritism!)
Hella! Definitely Hella. And Melissa, she’s a wild child.
Why should we run out and buy it right now?
Because if you like them filthy, I mean real filthy, the kind that won’t scrub off in the shower, then you need to by this.
Hehe, I think we could be convinced by that 🙂 The book details are here:
They say there are defining points in your life – moments where you f**ked it all up, moments that make you its bitch, moments that shape you into the person you are.
The day I met Braxton Ward was one of my moments.
My name’s Melissa Hart, and I don’t think you’re ready for this story.
I go by a few names: Hella, Brax, 112, or, depending on whether I’ve been balls deep in you or not, C*nt. I don’t push the boundaries because in order to do so, one must have them. I’ve never had them. Being homeless at the not-so-tender age of fifteen morphed me into an emotionless shell, and when The Army recruited me, that shell turned into steel.
They say if fire is hot enough, it can melt steel; the hate that burns between Melissa Hart and me just might be hot enough.
Shit doesn’t come easy for us. Enemies are expanded, secrets are revealed, and lives will be taken. Yeah, I’m Braxton “Hella” Ward, and you bet your f*cking ass that you ain’t ready for this story.
