As some of you may know, I’m a little unwell this week so I apologise for the posts being a little hit and miss. At least I’ve had some reading to distract me though and have been lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of Erzabet Bishop’s fab read, Crave.

Review – 4 Stars
It was interesting to read a BDSM theme combined with a suspense storyline, it gave it a little something different. After almost being killed in a BDSM-related crime Linnet not only left behind her previous submissive life, but dedicated herself to solving other sex crimes as a detective. Her past rears up though when she is assigned to investigate a serial murder, whose attacks bare an uncanny resemblance to her own. Linnet is also torn between her past, in form of previous dom Gage, and her current life as a mistress with new submissive Ryder.
I liked Linnet a lot, she had been through a great deal but she survived and it made her a stronger person. You could also see the emotional effects though, and it was nice to see her starting to work through those, to face her past and let people in again.
Ryder was a great character, some authors have a tendency to write male submissives as slightly weak or just as rather flat characters, so it was nice to see Ryder being so well-developed. He was strong when he needed to be, good at juggling his professional and personal life, and you had to feel for the way he always tried to put Linnet first – even when he was worried it would cost him. Gage, I would have perhaps liked to know a little more about. I got his guilt and regret coming through, but a little more detail on him as a person might have been nice.
There were a few minor points that annoyed me. I must admit I’m not a fan of the ‘they were wearing masks so didn’t recognise each other’ plotline. I could possibly accept if they were strangers beforehand – but if it was someone I’d had a serious relationship with then I would know them even with a bit of cloth over their face! That’s maybe just my personal opinion though. Also, I was quite surprised that after seven murders a ‘vital’ piece of evidence was never spotted on the first six crimescenes? Plus the cat – I don’t do spoilers but awww 🙁 These were just minor personal points though and overall I enjoyed it as a fast paced story, combining some steamy BDSM with a gripping suspense storyline. Would highly recommend.
