Tuesday Catch Up

Hi all,

Well, I’m running a day behind here – this week has been chaotic already, and it’s only Tuesday lol! indexTo all my American friends – I hope you’re managing to get out to vote and good luck with it. I saw a lovely article this morning showing people at the grave of America suffragette Susan B Anthony and placing their ‘I voted’ stickers on the gravestone. I’m aware it’s been a difficult election, such a lot of nastiness and strong feeling on both sides but sometimes an image like this can make us think how important democracy is and how we should never take it for granted. I know a lot of people are disillusioned with both sides – but I do hope you manage to vote anyway and that at the end of the day people will be able to accept the result (whatever it may be) and start to move forward.

Anyway, I feel that’s maybe getting a preachy and that’s the last thing I want to be 🙂 How are those of you doing Nano getting on? Our first week is done – hope you’re on target! I am surprisingly still on track, I’m usually slipping behind by this point, but we shall see how it goes. If I can have book 2 released and book 3 written by the end of the year then I’ll be pretty happy 🙂

14937337_1613969382233268_602095235217030311_nSpeaking of happy (or not in this case lol) I have some traumatised kitties today. I am apparently a horrible monster for daring to take them to the vets (they had an itty, bitty jab and their nails clipped) – they made their displeasure fairly strongly known so I may be covered in plasters today *sighs* I do appreciate the irony of them having their nails cut after they scratched me to shreds. It’s a good job they’re sodding cute 😉

Hope you have a good week. Take care x

Tuesday Catch Up

Hi all,

A shiny new week and a shiny new website! It’s still rather a work-in-progress so please excuse any teething blips and more content is being added so if there’s a random blank page it’s probably in the process of being filled 🙂 It has definitely been a bit of a tasking job (complete with total mess-up at weekend where I broke the whole site and had to have a rather amazing friend baby-step me through fixing it lol!) Hopefully, I’m slightly starting to get the hang of the new set-up though – comments always welcome!

img_5259Apart from that though, it’s been the usual business here. Drizzt and Dresden are starting to settle in nicely – first vet visit yesterday so they are all checked over and jabbed up. It’s great to see the difference in Drez in particular, who’s gone from hiding behind the sofa for most of the first week to insisting I drop everything so he can sprawl over my lap for cuddles. Possibly not the best thing in terms of productivity, but you try saying no to that little face 🙂

witch-fantasy_00408573Despite cat distractions though, work is happening. My standalone witchy/vampire novella is almost finished and I’m having a lot of fun writing it. It’s a little lighter than my usual style so it’s nice to have that bit of humour in it and I really hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much. My wolfie book is still with my editor but progress is being made and fingers crossed shall get it back soon and then can update with a release date (exciting!). I’m also putting the finishing touches to the cover and am really happy with it – so can’t wait to share 🙂

Hope you’re all having a fab start to the week. Take care x

Monday Catch Up

Hi all,

Can you believe we’re into October this week? I have no idea where this year seems to have gone. It’s been a busy week, lots on with the day jobs and trying to get caught up on lots of writing bits and pieces. My wolves book is currently with my editor so hoping to get that back soon – no doubt covered in shiny red marks for me to go through. (I’ve already been told I have a comma splice problem – it’s true, I def need help lol!).

Still working on my current WIP but getting into the final section I think (of course, there’s still the big climatic ending so not done yet!) and thinking about joining in Nano this year to try and get a decent chunk done on the next in my series.

In the meantime though, we’ve been busy at home too. These two came to ‘join the family’ last weekend and so have been spending the week helping them settle in. The wee black one is Drizzt and the black and white one is Dresden. In typical me fashion, Drizzt has baby vampire teeth and Dresden has the bat symbol on his nose (Batcat!). Didn’t even notice until we got them home, but think they were definitely meant for me 🙂

Anyway, better go get my kitty cuddles in 😉 Take care x

Monday Catch Up

Hi all,

Well, another week rolls around and I must apologise for the lack of updates. There’s been a lot going on – some good, some bad. Just over a week ago we had to say goodbye to our gorgeous furbaby. Objectively, you kind of know it’s coming, she was 16 and was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago, but I don’t there’s ever really any way to prepare for it. We’d had her from a kitten, so a long time, and must admit am feeling a little lost. Keep expecting to turn round and she’ll be walking in, or running to greet me at the door, or hopping on the bed in the middle of the night to wake me up. The quiet is unnerving and not something I think I will ever get used to. Still, if we dwell on that too much I’ll end up not being able to finish this post, so here we go.

SerenityshipI did say there was some good. Got to head back down to England for a good friend’s wedding and was lovely to see family and friends again, even if I probably wasn’t the most sociable. Also really appreciate since I’ve got back, friends who are keeping an eye on me, and even *shock horror* getting me out of the house. Saw a festival show on Tuesday with the fabulous Axis of Awesome, and had a fun day of Firefly-binging complete with Mudder’s Milk cocktails yesterday.

tumblr_n0qucd56B61sjoq1co1_500Writing-wise, it’s been going a little slowly. I’ve admitted defeat on the submission call, the deadline is tonight and it’s not going to be finished. I was attempting to get it done, but was feeling a bit rushed and forced which is not what I wanted. I am enjoying the story, so it will get finished – just in my own time and then can decide what to do with it 🙂 Going to get back to the edits this week, so hopefully will be able to announce some dates for things soon.

Hope you have a good week. Take care x

Monday Catch Up

Hi all,

wolf coupleWell, Monday rolls round again, hope you’re all having a good start to the week. The last one has been quite busy here – as some of you know had to take kitty in to the vets on Thursday for her little vampire tooth that was sticking out. They decided to keep her in there and then to take it out – so had a rather stressful few hours of worrying plus a lot of running back and forth. Thankfully all was fine, and once she’d got over her wobbling all over the house like a wee drunkard she’s looking much better and scoffing her food down 🙂 Our furbabies do keep us on our toes, right? On a related note, thank God for PDSA. If you don’t know, they are a wonderful charity who run vet clinics for people on low-incomes to provide their animals with vet care. With all the health problems kitty has had over the past year, if she’d still been at a regular vet I would be bankrupt by now! If anyone feels the need to donate somewhere, they are a very worthy cause.

Writing-wise, have finally finished my wolves book 2! 🙂 It’s both a wonderful feeling to have finished and at the same time a little sad having to say goodbye to your characters. Still, I have a feeling they will be popping up in some other people’s stories so not a total goodbye really. So, have been having a few days break, catching up on some tv shows etc (anyone else watching Gotham – how good is it right now??). I’m also starting a new story for a submission call. I know, I know, I have so many half-finished ones already, but this was just too tempting. It’s been lots of fun to write so far, which is nice to have something light with a bit of comedy after having a bit of an intense ending on the last book. So far, we have a witch allergic to magic, a vegan vampire under a curse and a werewolf veggie cooking group 🙂

Anyway, better get back to it! Take care x

Author Interview with Casey Sheridan

Hi all,

Hope your weekend is going well. I’m very excited to be joined here today by the lovely Casey Sheridan – and since I’m on the nosey side (hey, it comes with the writer territory!) I get to ask all about her, and her latest release, Number 69.

Author Avatar Casey SheridanWell, the kettle’s boiled and the biccies are out, so let’s start with you telling us a bit about yourself.

Casey: Thanks, Shelli, for having me on your blog today!

I like to write erotic, fun, and romantic fiction. I’m an introvert and a chocolate lover, but I also like reading and watching movies. I love animals and I volunteer to care for feral/outdoor kitty pals. And this month (Oct 1-31), I’m donating all my book royalties to Alley Cat Allies to help educate others about feral cats and the things they can do to help make their lives happy and healthy.

Aww, well that’s definitely a cause close to my heart, my own little furbaby was found abandoned as a stray – though you’d never guess it from the attitude these days 🙂

Was there a specific moment where you first knew that you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve been writing since I was just a kid and I used to daydream about being a famous author, or famous musician, or famous actor. Since I’m terrified of being the center of attention, musician and actor were not an option. I didn’t really take writing seriously until later in life when I wrote a short story and submitted it. Even though it was rejected, I was inspired to keep going.

Ooh, could have been talking to a famous actress instead 😉 Do you have a particular writing routine, or any special rituals?

I know many authors like to write with music playing, but for me, I need it to be as quiet as possible. Not completely dead silent, but not noisy either. Music and television distract me. I end up dancing around my living room if music is playing. Lol

Otherwise, my routine is to have my laptop, a bottle of water, and my dictionary, thesaurus, and Emotional Thesaurus nearby and I can write all day.

Hehe, I have a similar problem, people laugh when I tell them I have to have ‘just in the middle’ tv, not too bad, but too good as then I get caught up in it! Tell us about the genre you write in, and what drew you to it.

I write erotica and erotic romance, or erotica with romance. What drew me to it was the challenge of writing it and writing it well. Many people say writing is easy, and I guess it really is, but writing well, developing three dimensional characters, describing the setting, and having a plot that flows are all hard things to do. Writing a sex scene, and writing it well, is even more difficult. I like that challenge. I love being absorbed in the process of writing.

Are there any particular authors or books that have really inspired you?

When I first started writing seriously, author Shelli Stevens was a big inspiration for me. I read everything of hers.

There’s also author Eden Baylee. I love her work especially her latest mysteries/thrillers such as Stranger at Sunset, A Snake in Paradise, and Seal of a Monk.

Of course, classic authors like Jane Austen, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Edgar Allen Poe.

Oh, I do love some classic literature – am a huge Austenite 🙂 What five things could you never do without?

1) My cat, Cecil (or any of the cats, really) 2) Chocolate 3) My laptop 4) Electricity. How else am I going to charge my laptop? 5) Pen and paper (that counts as one, right?)

Of course, I think they have to be included together 😉 So, tell us a bit about your new release.

Number 69 is an erotic romance and it’s about how Melodie meets the mysterious man holding the remote to her vibrating panties.

Wow, okay, that definitely brings some interesting scenarios to mind! Where did your inspiration for it come from?

When a fellow author entered her short story into a contest, one of the prizes was a pair of vibrating panties. That got me asking myself all sorts of “What if” questions such as, what if they had a remote control? What if someone else had the remote? And so on.

It’s certainly an… intriguing concept 😉 What did you find most enjoyable about writing it?

I loved envisioning the hotel where the match making party takes place. Mentally walking through it and seeing what my character was seeing was a lot of fun.

What was the hardest part about writing it?

The ending. I always have a hard time with endings.

Me too – I hate saying having to wave goodbye to my characters. Speaking of which, who’s your favourite character in it? (I know, I know, favouritism!)

This is a bit unorthodox, but my favorite character in the book is Cecil, the cat. Yes, I put my cat in the book. He’s in the first chapter, so, of course, he’s my favorite character.

Aww, so you’re now going to have a famous kitty as well! So, sum up for us – why should we run out and buy it right now?

Number 69 is a fun read and I think it has delightful characters (especially Cecil – lol). It’s not your typical erotic romance. Also, like I mentioned before, my book royalties for this month are being donated to help kitties. So, if you buy the book, you’re helping me help kitties to live happier and healthier lives.

So, a fun, erotic adventure and you’re helping save cat lives. I think I’m sold 🙂 Thanks so much for joining us today.

Hope you’ve all enjoyed chatting to Casey as much as I have, and if you want to get hold of her new release, Number 69, (and don’t forget it’s helping Alley Cat Allies charity) then read on for the details 🙂

Number 69_CaseySheridan 650x429Blurb

A matchmaking party was not Melodie’s idea of fun, and wearing vibrating panties was just plain weird. Or was it?

Should she go to the party? After all, she just might meet Mr. Right. And if he doesn’t show, she has the vibrating panties to keep things interesting.
