Goes up to full price on Monday, so if you’re wanting a bargain make sure you grab your copy quick 🙂

Blurb

Niko cover 600x900What if the fairy-tales were true – but they got it all wrong?

Everyone Katya thought she could rely on has betrayed her in the end, yet when she finds she has a long-lost niece a tiny traitorous part of her rears up – the part that has always longed for a real family – and before she quite knows how it’s happened she’s flown halfway around the world to meet Natalia. But Natalia lives in a strange place full of secrets. Big bad wolves and red cloaks belong in fairytales, right? The more Kat finds out the more she’s forced to suspend disbelief – and dare to wish she could stay.

Niko has given his whole life to his pack – almost literally when his last fight nearly killed him. Years of being second in command have left him drained and cynical. Once he dared to dream about a mate – and it blew up in his face. So why is he still impossibly drawn to Kat? The attraction may be off the charts, but surely he learnt his lesson last time about letting anyone into his heart.

Two lost and broken people might not be willing to admit they need anyone – but when Kat is thrown into danger, they may not have a choice but to trust each other. Can this temptation lead to anything more?

Wednesday WIP

Hi all,

Hope your week is going well. Apologies for the lack of posts – 2017 is kicking my butt already *sighs* Still, it’s not all bad – have just started editing my witchy/vampire novella so I’ll share a wee snippet with you now. (Please bear in mind, just started editing so please forgive any mistakes!)

Venn stared at the little cottage with some trepidation. It cottagewas just so… cutesy. Warm red brick with a neat little garden, shadowed in the growing darkness, leaden-paned windows and a sloping roof. He wouldn’t be surprised to see deer and little bunnies frolicking through the grass. Urgh. This did not look like the home of a powerful witch. Maybe it was a kind of camouflage? Still it wasn’t as though he had a great deal of options here. Everyone else had turned him away. If this witch couldn’t help he was pretty much screwed.

He glided through the night to the painted front door. There was a neat, hand-printed sign.

For enquiries, come to back door.

Great. Like a servant, or a delivery person. Gritting his teeth he made his way round to the back and knocked sharply on the door. It flung open, spilling out warm light and framing the form of a small woman. He blinked at her a moment. Short, curvy, with brown, slightly frizzy hair pulled back in a messy up-do and thick glasses that gave her the look of a blinking owl. This – this was his last hope?

“Can I help you?”

Her voice was surprisingly rich and smooth. Fine, he was here now, though he wasn’t feeling optimistic.

“I hope so. You are the witch in residence here?”

Maybe she was an assistant or something? There could be someone inside who reeked of power. Her eyes narrowed as though she sensed his thoughts.

witch-fantasy_00408573“The one and only. I am Elizabeth Garrett Morrigan. And I need a good reason to want to help a vampire.”

He sighed. At least she had enough power to know what he was, that was surely a start.

“My name is Venn Draconius. I was told that you can be sympathetic to those who others shun. I am badly in need of help. I am under a curse.”

Her brow furrowed. “What kind of curse?”

“Could we perhaps discuss inside?”

A male voice came from inside the house. “Libby, don’t you dare invite a vampire in here.”

Venn raised an eyebrow. “I assure you no harm will come to anyone in this house on my account.” His lips twisted cynically. “I give you my word on that. Even if I had the inclination, the execution is no longer possible for me.”

The woman stared at him for a long moment, almost as if she was taking his measure. He was surprised to notice that her eyes behind those huge lenses were actually quite beautiful, a deep forest green with tiny flecks of gold around the iris. Odd, he hadn’t noticed a woman’s eyes in probably a century.

She suddenly stepped back, gesturing him in. “I invite you into my home.”

He gave her a brief bow, before stepping past her into a warm and homely kitchen. Curious, he glanced around for the source of the male voice. Perhaps she felt safe because she wasn’t alone.

“I honestly cannot believe you, Libby.” The voice sounded again, close, like it was in the room, but Venn couldn’t see any sign of anyone. “If we’re all killed in our sleep I swear I will never let you live it down.”

Libby gave a brief smile and gestured to an odd shape on the wall. “This is Huwie. Don’t mind him.”

“Don’t mind me? Don’t mind me! That’s gratitude for you.”

“Is that a starfish?”

Venn stared in bewilderment as one of the tiny creature’s arms flapped around, obviously in time with his distress.

She sniffed. “That is Huwie, he is my friend and my familiar and if you expect me to even consider helping you then you’ll be nice to him.”

Be nice to a talking starfish? Obviously this witch was crazier than he’d thought, but for now he needed to keep her on side.

“Erm, nice to meet you?”

Was he supposed to shake hands as well, and which of those waving arm/limb things were classed as hands? He felt the strangest urge to laugh. Again something that hadn’t ocurred to him in more years then he cared to remember.

“Take a seat,” the little witch gestured him to one of the wooden chairs at the table, “and tell me about this curse.”

Tuesday Catch Up

Hi all,

Well, I don’t know about where you are, but November has definitely hit here and it’s bleedin’ freezing! Even the Christmas lights have gone on this week so we must be into mid-winter *sighs* At least it looks twinkly! It’s been a bit of an up and down week. My sort of surrogate gran passed last week (used to be my gran-in-law but we’ve still stayed in touch) the funeral is tomorrow so will be a sad day.

2016-05-11-1462971004-479389-writerWriting-wise, it’s very much all-go. I’m thinking I may have to admit defeat on Nano – I’m currently just under 10k behind and with funeral tomorrow and family coming to visit at weekend it’s not looking very likely I’ll get back on target. (I’m still looking forward to them coming though – don’t worry Mum!). I’m not getting too stressed over it, I managed to get a standalone finished, some extra words on book 3 in my wolfie series and hopefully will get a Christmassy sort finished this week then can get it out in time lol. It’s angel-themed and I have some fab stock images to play with for a cover – can’t wait for you to see! I’ve also finally got back my first edits on book 2 in my wolves series. I think I’m probably going to have to push release back to January now – but hey, I have a Christmas book for you in the meantime 😉

Hope all the rest of you Nano-ers are doing better than me 🙂 Take care x

Thursday Teaser – Paranormal Romance

Hi all,

Hope your week’s doing well. I may have been slightly distracted on my original Nano project into a Christmas story – but hey, it’s almost that time of year. Everyone loves Christmas stories right? *shifty look* Anyway, I’m enjoying it and it won’t be too long so hopefully can get it finished off soon and then out in time 🙂

In the meantime thoufh, I’m sharing a teaser from my next wolves book, which I promise will be out soon! I know I seem to have been saying that for a while but edits have taken longer than I thought they would and I don’t want it going out until it’s right. In the meantime though, hope you enjoy this 🙂

cottageQuickening her pace, she headed down the winding track towards the main village. The light was fading fast, casting deep and slightly creepy shadows, while every rustle in the trees on either side made her start. It’s just your imagination, just your imagination. Or was it? The rustling to her left was getting louder and steadier. Her heart started pounding as she broke into a half jog. The noises were closer though, effortlessly keeping up with her. Sweat broke out, trickling down her back and stinging her eyes. Oh God, what the hell had she been thinking heading out in the dark on her own?

Katya. The voice in her head was deep, familiar and edged in concern

Niko? Relief made her not only telepathically reach out towards him – something she’d never done before – but stop in her tracks. Thank God! He would find her and…

wolves-and-werewolves-fire-and-ice-the-wolf-pack-23828159-240-320A huge, furry shape sprang from the shadows, heading straight for her. She screamed in terror as it knocked her down. There was a glimpse of bared teeth, hot breath on her face. Frantically she began scrabbling backwards, another shriek escaping her when a firm hand gripped her arm, dragging her to her feet. A human hand. For an instant she thought Niko had somehow magically found her, but this man was taller, thinner, with shaggy light brown hair. He was human though.

Please,” she gasped, “you have to help me.”

He smiled at her and his eyes glowed in the faint moonlight. Fuck, not so human. She tried to run but the hand tightened on her arm, she was dragged back against him, a strong-smelling cloth pressed against her face. Her struggles slowed and darkness crept in.

My Sexy Saturday – 12/11/16

Hi all,

Yay, it’s weekend and after a rather stressful week all round, I think we’re all needing it. I’m excited to be back taking part in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop, and since the theme this week is ‘Sexy in the Sky’ I thought i’d share a wee excerpt from one of my latest WIPs. This is my deathly allergic witch and cursed vampire novella – and woot, it was just finished last weekend. Well, the first draft anyway, lots of edits to go yet 😉 Hope tou enjoy though x

“You have got to be kidding me?” The look on his face would have been almost amusing if Libby wasn’t already a little worried herself.

56000cae3cf8306e57939fef860e1c4a“Don’t be such a baby.” She patted the broom in what she hoped was a reassuring manner.

Okay, so maybe it was a slightly older mode. Older in this case meaning ancient and ever so mildly on the decrepit side, but these things were built to last. This had actually been her aunt’s, and a couple of fading stickers on the worn wood at the back hinted at the kind of globe-trotting life Libby had never had. If she was perfectly honest then she’d never actually taken it any further than Cornwall on a mini-break but, really, how much harder could it be to take it that little hop further to Northern Africa?

Venn was still staring her with that ‘hell no’ expression stamped all over his handsome face.

“Look, it’s not like we have a huge amount of options here. Every commercial airline in the country has supernatural security checks now – that would pick you up straight away. Do you have enough power to get yourself there on your own?”

She was 99% sure that he didn’t. She also know that he was going to resent to hell her mentioning it. She’d already gathered that most of his powers had been diminished since he’d been cursed. The smallest surge of power gave him a drawn look, tight lines round his mouth. The amount of power needed to get a body that distance would be well beyond him right now. As she’d expected his face closed down, anger and resentment flashing in those blue eyes.

“No,” his voice was clipped and she saw the effort it took to admit that.

“So, this is the best option. I’m a great driver – honest!”

A long drawn out sigh escaped him. “It appears I have little choice in the matter.”

She flashed him a grin. “That’s the spirit!”

She may be fibbing but shhhh 🙂 Don’t forget to check out the rest of the fab authors taking part today – the link is here

Have a great weekend x

Friday Teaser – Paranormal Romance

Hi all,

Well, it’s almost weekend – yay! Hope you have some fun plans – be that fireworks, bonfires, or just a chance to relax. Nano is off to a good start here, I’m actually on schedule for once – we’ll see how long it lasts 😉 New words are always good though. On that note, I thought I would share with you a wee teaser from my Nano novel – which will be the third in my wolves series and is tentatively titled Scarlett Prophecy. If you’ve read my earlier books, this is Sebastian’s story. I just can’t resist trying to redeem a villain lol! Since this is Nano, please bear in the mind this is unedited – hope you enjoy 🙂

red and wolfSebastian paced the small, bare cell. Four long strides length-wise, five width-wise. It was reasonably comfortably, God knows he’d been in worse places, but that didn’t take away from the fact that it was a cell. He couldn’t abide being contained. There was a quiet tread of footsteps outside and he forced himself to sit on the hard single bed and school his face into the calm, contained look he was known for. It wouldn’t do to let his captors know they were getting to him. The footsteps passed by though and after a brief pause he resumed the pacing. The cell was plain, thick stone walls, the bed with a light blanket, a metal urinal in the corner and that was about it. Nothing he could use, nothing that could be a possible weapon. A tiny window was set near the roof, he had to stand on the bed to see out the bottom and then there was nothing to see but a wall opposite. If he led on the bed he could look up at the sky through the thick bars – but that was depressing so he would rather pace.

A frown crossed his brow. Captured was an unacceptable state of affairs, and he still wasn’t entirely sure how it had come to this. He had been going to die, had been fully prepared for it. He should have died, it was something he accepted with his lifestyle and God knows he had little enough to live for.

He paused again, his sharp ears picking up the soft tread of footsteps again and this time he instinctively knew – it was her. He sat on the bed again, waiting with an outward patience he didn’t feel. The door swung inwards and he saw the guard first. It was the large blonde one today, his eyes sharply scanning the room and his jaw tightening as he gazed at Sebastian with thinly veiled distaste. Sebastian gazed calmly back, he didn’t give a crap what the man thought about him. If they were in the field he would kill him without a second thought and he had no doubt the man would do the same to him. That was almost as it should be and he shared the man’s distaste of his captivity. Then the man stepped aside and she came in.

cropped-wolf-eyes.jpeg

It took all he had to hide his emotions now. Sophie. That was her name, but he knew precious little else about her. Yet it was down to her that he was. All down to her that he wasn’t dead now. The she-wolf monster had been going for him, he had seen the killing intent in her eyes, the aim for the throat and then this woman had stopped her. The wolves had seemed as shocked as him when she’d shouted for them to stop, but they had. He didn’t know why, she seemed to have no particular rank, but they had bowed to her will and so now he was here. Trapped in this cell because now they hadn’t killed him they didn’t seem to know what to do about him. And her, she came every day, without fail. He eyed her, telling himself that it was because one of the first rules of battle was to know your enemy, but really because he just couldn’t seem to help himself.

Better get back to it! Take care x

Guest Author – A.E.Decker with The Meddlers of Moonshine

Hi all,

It’s Halloween weekend so I hope you’re all having a fun (and not too scary) one. I’m thrilled to have the fab A.E.Decker visiting to chat about her new release, The Meddlers of Moonshine, part of her Moonfall Mayhem series. It sounds like some perfect Halloween reading to me, but I’ll let A.E. convince you of that herself 🙂

So, let’s start with you telling us a bit about yourself.

author-photo-ae-deckerCurrently, I live in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I’ve worked as an ESL tutor and tai chi instructor. I studied both English literature and Colonial American history, with an added interest in the French Revolution and maritime history. So, naturally, with that background, I went on to become a doll-maker. I worked at a Renaissance Faire, and as a vendor at several conventions. One day, I made a bat-winged cat out of alpaca wool to sell, but the moment he was finished, I knew he had a story to tell. The bat-winged cat became Moony, and his story grew into the Moonfall Mayhem series.

I am loving this already! Was there a specific moment where you first knew that you wanted to be a writer?

When I was five, I think! I learned to read very early. Telling myself stories was my way of combatting boredom on long car trips. I first tried writing a book when I was maybe six, but I didn’t have the attention span to finish any.

Do you have a particular writing routine, or any special rituals?

I get my breakfast and take it to my writing space, eat and putter about the internet. Once I finish my coffee, I take my dishes to the sink. That’s my cue that it’s time to start working. Sometimes it takes a little while for the coffee to hit my system fully, but usually my brain settles in pretty quickly.

Lol, yes I must admit I’m fairly useless until the caffeine kicks in. Tell us about the genre you write in, and what drew you to it.

I write in the fantasy genre. I like its freedom. Anything you can imagine, you can write about. You get to set your own rules. Plus, it mixes very well with every other genre out there. Fantasy isn’t snobbish. It’s particularly suited to my method of twisting logic into illogic and back again.

Are there any particular authors or books that have really inspired you?

Terry Pratchett is the author I keep going back to. His wit, insight, humor, and heart are an inspiration. I don’t try to mimic his style, but I do try to light my torch from his, in a manner of speaking.

I do love Pratchett, just the humour he puts into things and his way of looking at the world leave me in awe 🙂 What five things could you never do without?

Cats, chocolate, warm blankets, amusing video games, and Daleks.

To be honest, I think I could probably – at a push – live without Daleks. But the rest, am right with you 🙂 Tell us a bit about your new release.

firstmoony1The Meddlers of Moonshine is the second book in the Moonfall Mayhem series published by World Weaver Press. While the first book, The Falling of the Moon, poked fun at fairy tale tropes, Meddlers takes aim at the ones found in Gothic literature, particularly The Turn of the Screw and Frankenstein. It’s action and humor, mixed up with mystery, spookiness, a touch of steampunk, and a dollop of romance.

Ooh, that sounds like an interesting mix. Where did your inspiration for it come from?

Really, the core of the story derived from reading The Turn of the Screw. I don’t scare easily, but that story really disturbed me. I think it’s not only that the Governess is an unreliable narrator, but that whether the ghosts are real are not, the children in her care end up victims to her ego. I knew Meddlers was going to be my take on Gothic tropes, so Screw served as a touchpoint. I wanted to reexamine the story and give the children a voice and perspective. They became Kay and Lindsay Ashuren in Meddlers.

I actually don’t think I’ve read that, which is odd when I’m a huge fan of Frankenstein and many of the other gothics around that time – shall have to look for it! What did you find most enjoyable about writing it?

I actually enjoy the revision process the most. All the pieces are in place, and it’s more about smoothing out the plot threads and adding in missed opportunities for humor. I really like the atmosphere in Meddlers. It’s more serious than Falling, but it keeps its humor and wit.

What was the hardest part about writing it?

Having to trim out some ideas I really liked. I usually start out with too many ideas and have to do a lot of snipping and trimming of the ends that don’t fit. Curiously, I don’t end up with “deleted scenes,” however. It all sort of melts into the finished piece.

True, it’s always so hard to cut down your babies! Who’s your favourite character in it? (I know, I know, favouritism!)

Ooh, that’s such an unfair question! I feel I have to clap my hands over some characters’ ears so their feelings won’t be hurt. But of the new characters introduced in Meddlers, I’d probably pick Kay Ashuren. He’s someone who was lurking in my head for quite a while until I found a place for him in Meddlers.

Why should we run out and buy it right now? J

Because I guarantee that there are things in my story that you won’t see anywhere else! A half-vampire exorcist, an avocado-loving vagabond, a Big Bad Wolf who reads Dostoyevsky, a Smilodon-shifter with a coffee addiction, and of course a bat-winged kitty with a penchant for mischief. I’d tell you to just imagine what sort of trouble such a crew could get up to in a prim-and-proper steampunk town with an unfortunate ghosts problem—but you don’t have to imagine it! Buy The Meddlers of Moonshine and find out!

Well, I think I’m definitely convinced (think you had me at bat-winged kitty lol)! Check out the book details here:

cover-meddlers-of-moonshineBlurb

Something is rotten in the town of Widget, and Rags-n-Bones knows it’s all his fault. Ever since he snitched that avocado from Miss Ascot’s pack, things have been going wrong. Armed with a handful of memories he never realized he had, Rags-n-Bones searches for a way to put right whatever he did to Widget in the past. If only he knew what it was! Unfortunately, the only person who seems to have answers is a half-mad youth that only Rags can see.

Widget is also suffering from a ghost infestation that has the townsfolk almost as spooked of outsiders as they are of actual spooks. While Rags-n-Bones seeks answers in the past, Ascot offers the town leaders her service as an exorcist, only to be handed an ultimatum: banish the ghosts or be banished herself!

Who’s meddling with Widget? To catch the culprit, Ascot and Rags-n-Bones must match wits with a shifty sorcerer, a prissy ex-governess, and a troublingly attractive captain before the town consigns itself to the graveyard of history.

Wednesday Snippet – Wolf Shifter Romance

Hi all,

Hope you’re all having a fun week (and of course, a spooky Halloween-themed one!). I’m very excited as off to see Doctor Strange this afternoon – I do love me some Cumberbatch 😉 Hopefully it will be good, or I’ll only end up seeing it half a dozen times instead of the usual full dozen lol.

In the meantime though… I’m sharing an excerpt from my upcoming release. This is the next in my wolves series and should be coming out next month, so I really hope you’ll all like it!

bfsgraywolf1Katya stood there for a long moment. She should head back to the high street, she really should. She had no business staying here with a man she’d never even met and knew nothing about. But he’d apparently saved her niece’s life. That was what she told herself as she slowly crossed back to the bed. There was a chair by the wall and she carefully pulled it up to the bed, and taking a seat gently reached out to take the man’s hand in hers. What the hell was she doing? Yet there was an odd rightness to it and she didn’t pull her hand back.

She studied his face, calm and relaxed as though he was merely sleeping, yet she had the feeling that when awake calm was not a word that would describe him.

“Where have you gone?” She whispered softly. “And why don’t you want to come back?”

With an odd sense of clarity, she suddenly knew that was the case. He didn’t want to come back from wherever his mind has taken him.

“It can’t be so bad here,” she told him. “You obviously have people who care about you.” To her shock tears stung her eyes. “It’s more than I have.”

The wave of loneliness washed over her. She had grown comfortable in the last few days but this was just a stop gap. Natalia had her own life, and while she might be welcome for a visit then she really had no proper place in it. Soon she would

have to leave, get back to her own task, and she would alone again. The way she always was. Blood was rushing in her ears and her eyes burned with tears. Abruptly the walls seemed to be closing in on her and she frantically tried to get up, tugging her hand back from the heavy weight of the man’s hand on top of it.

cottageTo her shock and horror it wouldn’t release her. Panic ran through her as she tugged harder. A small part of her knew she was being irrational, it was probably an automatic reflex in him that he had gripped on to her, but she was pretty sure a full blown anxiety attack was coming on and she needed to get the hell out of here.

“Let go of me!” She half sobbed, half shouted.

Two things happened almost at once. A wiry man in a white coat appeared in the doorway. Glancing from her tear-streaked face to their clasped hands his face drew into a frown.

“What on earth is going on here?”

Just as she was trying to answer, the grip on her hand increased even more and her attention swung to the man on the bed, who was gazing at her with deep amber eyes.

“Iyana?”

Free Paranormal Romance Ebook for Halloween

Hi all,

Hope you’re all having a fab weekend 🙂 We’re just a week away from Halloween – one of my favourite times of year. As you may have guessed from my writing I love all things paranormal, so what better than a holiday that celebrates all the fun of spookiness and magic? And let’s not forget some spooky Halloween reading (though I must admit I like a bit of romance mixed in).

Love Reawakened 3My novella, Love Reawakened features a sassy witch, a rather yummy necromancer, an escaped zombie, and of course, the obligatory dash of magic and romance 😉 I think it’s perfect for Halloween (okay, so I may be a wee bit biased!) so would love to share it with you. All you need to do at get a shiny FREE copy is to comment on this post telling me what you like best about Halloween and then signup for my newsletter (you should be able to do this at the bottom of your comment anyway but if not just hop over to the newsletter page of the site, it’s painless, I promise!).

In case you’re not convinced yet (and really, it’s free lol!), here’s a wee excerpt:

Shocked gasps came from behind her, but the vibrations were already running through the ground. Quickly, she smeared the blood around the edges of the circle. The energy was rising now, waves spreading out as the hairs on her arms stood up, and tiny tremors ran through the soles of her shoes. She drew a final symbol in the blood on the gravestone itself, the rough stone grazing her fingers and making the lines awkward.

“Patrick Connell, rise. Come from your grave at my command. Rise from your sleep at my bidding.”

nightThe earth in front of her practically bubbled now, and then it parted, and a tall figure emerged. Neil almost shrieked behind her, but her attention stayed focused on the corpse in front of her. He was newly dead and perfectly preserved. In fact, gazing at him, you would barely know the difference if you saw him walking down the street. She was quite proud. She didn’t do this spell much, but this was a damn good raising!

“Patrick Connell, you have been raised at my command. You will do as I say and nothing more, bound to me by blood and magic. Do you understand and obey?”

The corpse looked at her, surprising clarity in his deep blue eyes. She didn’t think she’d ever raised one this ‘new’ before, and it was actually a little disconcerting how alive he appeared. He’d obviously been a handsome man, tall with broad shoulders, thick dark hair, strong jaw, and quite startling eyes. Then he opened his mouth and said a single word.

“No.”

Hooked yet? 😉 Don’t forget, just leave a comment and then sign up for the newsletter and you get it completely free!

Have a great weekend. Take care x

Friday Romance Teaser

Hi all,

Well, it’s finally weekend! To be honest, I’m stuck doing a 12hr shift tomorrow so not going to be the most relaxing one for me, but ah well, hopefully can get some writing squeezed in around that. I do normally have guest authors on a Friday but since there seems to be a gap today I thought I would share something from my new wolves book. This is currently with my editor and hopefully there will be a release date coming very soon 🙂 In the meantime, hope you enjoy!

Natalia was half-dragging her along now, her niece moving with surprising speed. Whatever was following them seemed to be moving faster though, Katya could hear it alongside them now. She pushed her aching limbs to keep moving, while panic caught her breath in her throat. The sounds in the bushes suddenly stopped, the woods eerily silent apart from their crashing footsteps and labored breaths. Kat was just starting to think maybe whatever the hell it was had fucked off and found something better to stalk, when there was a huge crash through the bushes just ahead of them, and a huge – seriously huge – dark gray wolf was blocking their way.

cropped-wolf-eyes.jpeg

Kat couldn’t stop the shriek that escaped her as the two women stopped in their tracks. The creature’s thick fur was bristling, his head was slightly down with lips curled back over an impressive set of white teeth, and its glowing eyes were fixed on them. For an instant something in those amber eyes seemed familiar, and then the thought was pushed away on a wave of pure panic.

Oh my God.” She whispered.

Tension thrummed through her, every muscle tightening. Her body screamed at her to run, even though her brain knew there was no chance they could outrun a wolf. This was it. This was how she was going to die. And damn it, it really wasn’t fair. Just when things were finally sort of starting to go right for her, when she’d found some family. Now she would never get the chance to see Naomi again, to hold her child, to get her back. Her parents would have a goddamn field day with this one.

summer-game-of-thrones-direwolves-34317098-954-536Natalia was trying to gently push her back with one hand, her back straightening as she kept eye contact with the wolf.

Let’s all just stay calm here,” she said to it. “Don’t do something you’re going to regret.”

Seriously? Her niece was trying to reason with a wild animal that looked like it wanted to eat them. And she’d thought she was losing it.

Stay calm. We need to stall it, Damian is on his way.

Okay, scrap that, she was losing it more. She could have sworn she heard Natalia’s voice inside her head. The woman’s lips hadn’t moved, but her words had been clear as day.

You’re not losing it. Please, just trust me.

Sure, she was dying anyway. Why not go just give in to the madness at this stage? What was it the imaginary Natalia in her head had wanted – stall the vicious wild animal. Made perfect sense, right?

Good wolfie, wolfie.” She crooned. “See, you don’t want to hurt us really. We’d make a terrible meal, all gristly and that. Plus, I’m American, everyone knows American food is just the worse. Nothing but junk.” She giggled, an edge of pure panic skating it. Yup, she was going to die a crazy woman – nothing new there. The funny thing was the wolf was actually staring at her as she talked with an expression that on a human could only be described as incredulous. Even the wolf thought she was nuts.

Hehe, well you’ll have to come back soon to see what happens. Have a great weekend. Take care x
