It’s also the last working day for me before Christmas – woot! Hope you’re having a good week – I’ve been catching up on some festive reading, and I’ll be sharing some of my favourites here tomorrow! For now, it’s Tuesday so that means I’m sharing a teaser, and it’s from my own festive read, An Angel for the Tree. Hope you enjoy 🙂

Angel 600x400Laurel’s eyes filled with tears and, without thinking, she pulled him down to her and wrapped her arms round him. “You are not a bad person, Daniel. Just someone who bad things have happened to them. You didn’t deserve it.”

For a long moment they just stood there, and she could feel the warmth of his body pressed against her as her arms held him to her. He slid his arms round her, pulling her closer. She brushed her fingers over the bare skin at the nape of his neck, feeling a mix of desire and tenderness.

He sank his fingers into the hair at the back of her neck and tilted her head up. Her vision was still slightly blurry, but she saw his eyes widen as he met her gaze. He gently cupped her face in his hands and carefully wiped away the tears with his thumbs.

“I don’t think anyone has ever cried for me before in my life.”

Her heart clenched. He lowered his head to softly brush her lips with his, before lightly dropping kisses at the corner of her mouth, up her cheek, across her still damp eyes and then back to her lips. This time she pulled him down to her, deepening the kiss and revelling in the groan he gave against her lips. He tilted her head back so he could plunge his tongue deeper, and she moaned, liquid fire running through her veins.

Some faraway part of her brain was saying that this was a really bad idea, but the rest of her was lost in the feeling of his lips on hers, the heat of his body crushed against her. She’d never understood human emotions before, hadn’t realized how all consuming they could be. It was more then desire, she felt an overwhelming need to wrap him up and protect him from a world that had been so cruel to him. It was a ridiculous thought when he towered over her but she couldn’t push it away.
