Hi all,

Well, what a week it’s been! This time last Friday I was on the way home and just happened to check my phone to see that I’d missed a call – I didn’t recognise the number and it wasn’t local. ‘Oh, it’ll just have been a sales call’ went through my mind. If only I knew – as I got home to an email from Piatkus Entice saying that I had been chosen as one of the three finalists in their Romance Writing Competition being run with the Festival of Romance.

I must admit I entered the contest more as a punt then anything else. Since I first started writing, and quite frankly long before that, I knew that all my favourite authors in my genre were with Piatkus (think Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan and J.R. Ward to mention a few!!). It was part of what I jokingly like to call the ‘master plan’ but quite a way down the road yet! Still, when I saw the competition I couldn’t quite resist the lure of having something I’d written being at least read by them – and as I always try to think these days, if you don’t try then you never get! So, for them not only to like my writing but to be in the final three is just – wow! (As a writer you’d think I’d have better words, so sorry).

The next stage is down to public vote – and the other two entries are both fabulous so I’m not going to be too upset if this is as far as I get. (Actually, that’s a big fat lie, but I will understand and try to restrain my uncontrollable weeping to a corner while I put on a ‘oscar night’ graceful loser face, hehe).
