Hi all,
Well, weekend is here – though I must admit I would be looking forward to it more if I didn’t have a horrible synopsis to write! Still, that’s for later 😉 For now, I have the fab C.A. Bell dropping back to chat about their new release. The Nancy’s Curse trilogy is now out as a complete series, and you can get on ebook or in paperback. Magic, spirits and ouija boards – just what we ordered for the weekend!
So, let’s start with you telling us a bit about yourself.
C.A.Bell was born and raised on the outskirts of London, England, but for the past three years has resided in a much more rural town of Shropshire, where she married and made a home.
She is author to numerous erotic fiction stories, including, The Architect, Sex, Lies, and Sinful Wives, The Shame Train, and many more.
As well as putting together her own collections of erotic shorts and naughty poetry, she is also a contributor to many anthologies and online magazines.
Currently she is working on a number of projects which include a novel she started some time ago, book two of The Architect, and running her new website dedicated to erotica readers and writers, Bell, Book and Erotica.
Was there a specific moment where you first knew that you wanted to be a writer?
Not really. I was always good at English in school, but I never wanted to be a writer. I just suddenly found myself writing one day after a break up. I found the love of my life but we had to go our separate ways due to personal circumstances. And then I found myself writing as an escape from the harsh reality that was life, and trying to live out the fantasy that I wanted with him.
That’s really sad 🙁 I suppose at least something positive ended up coming out of it though. Do you have a particular writing routine, or any special rituals?
I like to do a basic plot on paper before I start, but other than that, no. I tend to just write when I can for as long as I can.
Sometimes that seems like the best way to do it 🙂 Tell us about the genre you write in, and what drew you to it.
I write in the erotic genre. I’m not sure what drew me to it. I think because it is my favourite genre to read, I have more fun writing in it. I do plan to venture out of the genre in the future, but for now, it’s erotica and all sub-genres.
I’m the same way, I always end up writing the genres I love to read most. What five things could you never do without?
My mac, coffee, mobile, music, and family. (Not in that order).
Hehe, we won’t make you choose an order (I have a bad feeling if was me the caffeine might win lol). Where did your inspiration for your new release come from?
Halloween! It’s my favourite holiday. I love the whole atmosphere that comes with autumn and the build up to the 31st. My family and I always go way over board with it. So, the inspiration came from my love for Halloween and all things supernatural and witchy.
Ooh, another Halloween lover! It’s one of my favourite holidays as well. What did you find most enjoyable about writing it?
Not knowing what was going to happen. I always have a basic outline when writing, but I tend to let the characters evolve and take me on a journey rather than the other way around. So, the not really know what was going to happen was the most enjoyable part for me.
Hehe, glad to see another pantser 😉 What was the hardest part about writing it?
Making sure everything added up and was believable. When you write about ghosts and witches it can get a bit fantastical. So, trying to capture the reader’s imagination and suck them into a world of make-believe, if you like, was hard. But I think I did it
I think that can often be the hardest part about writing stories with fantasy or paranormal elements – making those parts believable and grounded in reality. Who’s your favourite character in it? (I know, I know, favouritism!)
Ooo, that’s hard. Obviously I love the lead female, Nancy. But I love the lead male, Jack too. Oh, and there’s Maggie, the tarot reader, she’s lovely. Nope, I can’t choose. I love them all.
It’s like picking a favourite child, isn’t it! Why should we run out and buy it right now?
Because it contains everything you could possible want or need in a book. Sex, romance, suspense, heart ache, mystery. The list goes on. I guarantee there will be characters and situations you will love. And you’ll occasionally get the goosebumps.
If you’re convinced (and I know I am!) the book details are here:
Blurb
Sometimes white magic can turn dark. Even with the best intentions.
When Angelica, a white witch, placed a protective curse over her granddaughter, Nancy, in a bid to keep her safe from society and her own powers until she was old enough to understand, she had no idea of the consequences.
On the 31st of October, a grown up Nancy holds her annual Halloween party. Only this year she strays away from her traditional festivities that include her famous Halloween punch, and dancing to the Monster Mash, and opts for a spookier night. With the help of her friends, Nancy will be holding a séance with her new Ouija board. But little does she know that the protective curse her grandmother secretly cast over twenty-seven years ago is lifted that very night.
A spirit is summoned and Nancy begins a journey of sexual desire and love that she will never forget.
Was this summoning pure coincidence, magic, or something else? Only time will tell.
Lies, secrets, covens, dark forces, and nightmares lie just around the corner for Nancy. But at the end of it all, will she be able to help the man she has fallen for and fulfil his wish of putting his wandering soul to rest? And will there be a price?
Will true love conquer or be taken?
Nancy is about to find out.
